Nurses Burnout and Quality of Life: A Systematic Review and Critical Analysis of Measures Used
According to this journal review, a significant relationship exists between nurse’s burnout and their quality of life. The review found that most studies conducted in the last ten years showed a strong correlation between burnout and quality of life among nurses. This systematic review aims to examine the relationship between nurses’ burnout and their quality of life based on existing research. The objectives of this review include describing nurses’ burnout and how it was measured, describing nurses’ quality of life and how it was measured, assessing the relationship between nurses’ burnout and their quality of life, and introducing practical recommendations to reduce nurses’ burnout and improve their quality of life. The conclusion emphasizes the need for interventional programs to reduce burnout levels and enhance the quality of life for nurses.

The idea to supplement RNs with LPNs is one concept to attempt relieving the workload and achieving quality and safe patient care. As per Prentice et al. (2020) a teamwork approach among health care providers, including RNs, LPNs, and PCTs has been viewed as a strategy to “ensure optimal quality patient care” (Prentice et al., 2020).
Changes to the work environment and protocols will have to be made and staff need to be educated on legal and safe task delegations, and new workflow and strategy. It may cause resistance as change is difficult to accept by staff at times, and it takes time, trial and error to have an optimal workflow. A study in Canada revealed challenges regarding teamwork between these different team members due to unfamiliar workflow, unclear delegation of tasks, and change in staff due to high turn over (Prentice et al., 2020).
A structured plan by the educator on role responsibilities and delegation must be in place and presented to staff and trials and reviews will show results and effectiveness. It would be helpful to have staff fill out evaluations and review of the trial to find out if the new work strategy of integrating LPNs and PCTs to perform tasks the RNs are able to delegate legally and safely.

Using CNAs and LPNs to address nursing shortages raises questions about how well they can do their job and keep patients safe, and if it’s okay for them to do certain tasks. Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) have less training and fewer responsibilities than Registered Nurses (RNs). So, it’s important to make sure that they don’t have to do things they aren’t trained for because it could put patients at risk. This is also about the ethical rule of not hurting anyone. Depending too much on CNAs and LPNs could make RNs feel less important and cause problems with keeping and motivating staff in the healthcare field.
This situation, there are many important moral beliefs to consider. Hospital administrators must make sure they use their resources fairly and do what is best for their patients while also considering the limited resources they have. The nurse educator needs to be honest and make sure that CNAs and LPNs are well-trained and good at their jobs. The nursing team may have problems with making their own decisions about their work, and making sure they don’t harm their patients. Patients have the right to receive good and safe care. This could be in danger if the care is not done well or causes harm.
As a nurse educator or part of the hospital management team, I would make sure that CNAs and LPNs get the right training and education to do their jobs well before they join the nursing staff. I will make sure that everyone on the healthcare team knows exactly what they are supposed are supposed to do so that there is no confusion, and no one gets hurt. The rules for making decisions are doing good, not causing harm, being fair, and respecting people’s freedom to choose. I will work hard to make decisions that are best for patients, respect the freedom of healthcare workers, and create a fair and just workplace.
To address nurse shortages, hospitals can implement strategies such as increasing nurse recruitment efforts, offering competitive compensation packages, and providing support for professional development and career advancement. Additionally, hospitals can work to improve retention by addressing factors that contribute to burnout and turnover, such as workload, job satisfaction, and work-life balance.
