Make a copy of the Professional Learning Community Assessment instrument. The PLC Assessment instrument should be disseminated as an informal assessment tool to obtain an idea of observable practices at your school or business/organization relating to the five dimensions of a PLC and their critical attributes.
Distribute the survey to a minimum of 5 faculty members in your school or 5 colleagues. You may duplicate the survey or collect responses electronically using a vehicle like Survey Monkey. The participants’ completion of the survey should be anonymous.
Once you complete the survey data collection, compile and analyze the results. Prepare a professional narrative explaining the results of your survey, including a chart of results. Use the scoring rubric to help guide you as you prepare your paper.
You may have more than one chart if you want/need to. But only one chart is required.
The following questions are the kinds of questions that you would formulate as a part of your research into your school’s PLC environment. Any time you are conducting research, you will have had questions you posed in order to do the research to find out the answers. When you look at the scoring rubric, the category Findings is referring to the questions below and any additional questions that you wanted to explore in your survey.
Address the following points in the paper:
1. What area of the PLC is best being practiced in your school?
2. What area of the PLC is most evidently absent in your school?
3. If necessary, identify what evidence there is to support the positive practices of PLC that are occurring and/or provide any evidence you have to refute the responses of the survey participants. In other words, identify examples of PLC tenets that you are aware of in your school.
This paper should be no more than 5 pages, double spaced. The chart or charts will count as only ONE page regardless of the number of charts you have. For example, if you have 3 charts with one on each page that is still only 1 of the 5 pages for the paper. No particular style format is expected (APA or MLA).
