This 3-4 page paper analyzes and reflects on a crucial conversation with someone who matters in your life. You can go back to a crucial conversation you have already written about in your Applied Learning Journal or choose another one. In contrast to your Applied Learning Journal, this paper is a deeper analysis and reflection applying all that you’ve learned about interpersonal communication since the beginning of the quarter. Show me with multiple examples and evidence that you are growing in your skills and knowledge. (50 points) 5 Elements to be included in your paper and grading rubric (use these elements as Headers): 1. Context of the communication experience. Provide a thorough description of the communication experience so your reader can fully understand who was present including the different social memberships. Cultures present. Who had privilege and why (week 7 will talk more about privilege) (10 points); 2. Listening skills – how skilled were you as a listener in this conversation? What did you do well; what could you have improved? You could go back to your Listening Self Evaluation to assess your skill level (10 points); 3. Verbal and non-verbal aspects – What did you notice about how you communicated verbally and non-verbally to convey understanding and respect? Did you notice any biases surface and if so how did you handle the situation? (10 points) 4. Passages from our texts – I’d like you to include two passages from our texts in your paper — one from each of the books. Select passages that were especially helpful to you. Weave these passages into your narrative making sure to cite source and page number. (10 points) 5. Summary analysis of where you started as an interpersonal communicator at the beginning of the quarter and where you see yourself now. I suggest that you revisit your Personal Learning Plan goals. Have you made progress on your goals? Which ones? Where do you still see areas of growth needed? (20 points)
