This week’s question:
In your chapters this week, among other things, you dove deeper into the world of Social Media and Sports Journalism, a faction of this industry that you all grew up with.
While some of the original social media platforms have slowed in the sports world, like Facebook, and others have yet to fully see their potential met, like Snapchat, the top two platforms for sports media are Twitter and Instagram, and that’s not likely to change anytime soon.
In the chapter on Social Media and Sports Journalism, there is a breakdown of strengths and weaknesses for the five main social media platforms. Also in that breakdown is a “Best Used For” column that illustrates reasons why Twitter and Instagram are so successful.
Please find those “Best Used For” items in your text — for Instagram and Twitter only — and illustrate to the class an example of one of those items being brought to light on Instagram and Twitter.
The posts you find can be from a specific outlet, like ESPN, for instance, or a specific journalist, like Adam Schefter or Adrian Wojnarowski, for example. But the posts should be recent and relevant to this conversation, and you should explain to the class your parallels from your chosen posts to the “Best Used For” items in the textbook.
In the end, you will have a two-part submission:An Instagram post of your choosing that falls in line with a “Best Used For” practice from the textbook that you illustrate in detail for the class.
And a Twitter post of your choosing that falls in line with a “Best Used For” practice from the textbook that you illustrate in detail for the class.
