We use minerals in our lives everyday, without even noticing. Minerals are in your cellphone, your car, your counter tops (well, some of our counter tops anyway) and even your walls. In this journal post you will be investigating the uses of minerals, creating you own mineral info page, and reviewing your peers’ mineral info pages as well.
Part 1
Your assigned mineral is listed my assigned mineral is copper.
Research the variety of uses for your mineral. There are all sorts of resources you can use, so don’t get bogged down with just one reference. Look for all types of reference materials (your lab material, your textbook, the internet, etc.), but remember that not every resource is of equal quality. Note, avoid uses that pertain to healing using crystals as this has not been a scientifically verified use for minerals.
Once you are satisfied that you have fully researched the uses of your mineral you will create an original mineral info page. Remember to be creative! Make a drawing, write a poem, tell a story, or make a fun video!
Your mineral info page must have sources to be reliable. See the University of Washington’s page for how to tell if something is reliable.https://guides.lib.uw.edu/research/faq/reliable
Your mineral info page must include a reference list of all of your sources in APA style. See the Purdue Online Writing Lab for more information on how to create a reference list in APA style.https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/research_and_citation/apa_style/apa_formatting_and_style_guide/reference_list_basic_rules.html
