Use the readings provided in this hand out on one-dimensional elementary Cellular Automation, build the first 10 generations of a 1-D elementary Cellular Automation given the information listed below.
1.) The size of the grid is 8 cells, and apply Edges wrap around. The initial population values are given as generation 0 and they are defined as 0 1 1 0 0 1 0 1.
2.) Apply Rule 73 to generate each of the 10 generations (10 points). Put your results in a table in a Word or Excel file, using 1 for black blocks, 0 for white blocks. An easy way to do that is to create a grid of cells in a spreadsheet, and then use background/fill color on each cell, according to the rule (Rule 73 icon). Show each generation as a separate row.
3.) In your file, include answer to the following questions: (a) what are the four classifications of behavior the one-dimensional cellular automata exhibit? (4 points) (b) Explain how you understand the implications of the Principle of Computational Equivalence in your own words. Copying text from the provided reading will not count for credit (6 points).
