810 – Assignment 6:
Submit your abstract that you started to work on in Module 5. Follow the directions below to submit your work:
Complete the sample abstract submission materials for a national conference as if you were going to submit your scholarly work for a poster/paper presentation. Follow the Southern Nursing Research Society (SNRS) Abstract Submissions packet at snrs_abstract_guidelines_2022_2.pdf. Following their directions for structuring your abstract. Your work should be appropriately supported by evidence-based sources. Follow the APA 7th edition guidelines when formulating your abstract to include level headings.
Module Description
The nature of “evidence” can be broad, but perhaps the most prevalent evidence comes from quantitative research studies. Quantitative research designs include a number of strategies and resources. Anytime you are assessing the merits of quantitative studies or other evidence, your critique will include a number of items. Although you will be looking at all of those items, it is important to pay particular attention to the sample in your critique. The studies you will be considering in this module should include a sample of subjects whose data are derived from tools that produce standardized results. For example, the quizzes in this course produce quantitative (i.e. counted and measured) data in the form of test scores that can be manipulated using statistical tests like means, t-tests, and ANOVA. Some consider quantitative data, in such standardized measures, more valuable for evidence, but the nature of the problem or topic to be addressed in practice must also be considered.
Objectives
Upon the completion of this module, you will be able to:
Critique a quantitative research study using a standard format.
Explain the critical components for evaluation of evidence.
Apply a standardized approach to research evaluation for a selected topic.
