Reading and Writing Assignments Research Reading Assignment: Here is what you’ll be handing in with the final draft of your research project: You must follow the criteria below. You WILL lose points if you neglect to submit all parts of the essay. NOTE: The items that are essential for your paper are the title page, sentence outline, the text, and the works cited page. All other items are optional. The following is the order in which you will place the items in your research paper: 1. Title page–The title of your paper is to be centered and placed 1/4 of the way down the page. In the middle of the page, again centered, type the word “by,” hit “enter” and type your name. Then about 3/4 of the way down the page, again centered, type the following: Professor Andrew Pegman August 2022 2. Sentence outline. Make certain that you follow the proper outline format. The final outline should reflect the organization of your final draft. 3. The text of the paper itself. Number your pages. 4. Note page–Optional–You probably won’t have need for extended explanations that require separate note pages. If you do, these pages get numbered consecutively after the text of your paper. You would give this page the title “Notes” and center this word at the top of the page (but below your header). 5. Appendices–Optional–If you decide that you have items such as charts or photos (or whatever) that you would like to put into one or more Appendix pages, these pages also get “Appendix 1” and “Appendix 2” and so on (if you have more than one item for your appendices; use just “Appendix” if you have only one item) and center these below your page header. 6. Works Cited page—mandatory. By the way, everything in your paper, including title page, outline, quoted materials that are long enough to be set off from your own text (5-7 lines or more), etc. is to be typed in 12-point type and double-spaced. The actual body of the final essay should be at least 9- 10(double-spaced) pages in length.
