PART A 150 words In this lecture, we learned about the components in a typical disaster plan including: Training and Evacuation Methods. Determining when and how evacuations should take place is a major part of planning to respond to any disaster. The importance of evacuations became apparent during the response to Hurricane Katrina when the decision to shelter-in-place was made by many hospitals including Memorial Hospital. This original decision and then the later adjustment made to evacuate resulted in the development of ethical dilemmas for health personnel.
Read the article below detailing Memorial Hospital in Louisiana and how the decisions made by the hospital and its’ providers would impact the lives of many patients and themselves in the future.

Emergency Plan Summary
Some disasters can be further prepared for because of the specific challenges that may be presented to the facility at that time. In this section you will be addressing a more specific approach to a particular disaster. Choose three possible disasters that could impact the facility (ie. Bioterrorism, evacuation, tornado, hurricane, flooding, terroristic threats, gas leaks, etc.) For each of the selected disasters include any specific guidelines that the facility will need to adhere to—what personnel will be impacted and what will their role be.
After the plan is created and guidelines are put in place it will be important that this is communicated to the staff. Explain how this will be done in the facility; what format would be best to train and prepare the staff and how will this information be communicated and reinforced.
Once the disaster occurs and facility responds the after-action review needs to be completed. Share how this will be fulfilled by the facility. Identify and describe the value of the after-action review and the personnel involved in its’ completion. In this final section of your plan you will be analyzing your plan and explaining the following: Describe how your completed plan meets the needs of the community
Explain how your plan meets both internal and external needs throughout the disaster response.
Identify key components of a hospital disaster and analyze how your plan will meet these elements. PART C 150
words The creation of the disaster plan is a group effort and would never be created and implemented by only one individual in any facility. Every department, in a facility, has a role in preparing the plan and preparing the staff within that department. Clear lines of authority and responsibility will not only improve the response to the disaster but also the preparation. In 150 words of your own, answer the following reflection prompt:
Assess the role that you could hold as a professional to prepare and implement a disaster management plan for a future (or current) employer.
