Information systems traditionally have been built to mirror the organization’s functional structure. These systems reflect how information flows up the organization’s hierarchy and how control of data is directed downward. In this Assignment, you turn your attention to the components of these systems. You also consider the various infrastructures and how they are connected. It is important that both the architecture and infrastructure support the components of the system.
To prepare for this Assignment:
Consider a scenario in which an organization has a centralized IT infrastructure and needs a system to accommodate growth.
Research the options available to address organizational needs in such a scenario, such as cloud computing, virtualization, adding more capacity to the current centralized infrastructure, et cetera.
Select the best solution.
Submit a 2- to 3-page paper that includes the following:
An explanation of what an information system is
A description of the major components of an information system
A description of the relationship among business architecture, IT architecture, and information infrastructure
An evaluation of the benefits and drawbacks of at least two options for meeting the organization’s need for growth
A justification for your selection
Your document should be 2–3 pages long (not including the list of references), but it is the quality of the work that is important, not the number of pages. Cite and reference all sources using APA format and style guidelines and submit in a single document.
Requirement:
Textbook (I will provide access to the textbook once I accept your bid)
Read Chapter 2 “Information Systems, IT Infrastructure, and the Cloud”
Grading rubric will be provided once accepted.
